Abbie Laugtug Fills Key OBI Policy Position

Oregon Business & Industry (OBI) is excited to announce that Abbie Laugtug has agreed to join OBI as a Vice President of Legislative Affairs. She will manage the energy, environment and natural resources policy portfolio. She also will be OBI’s point person on manufacturing policy.

Laugtug brings 15 years of lobbying experience at the state, regional and international levels. Most recently, she spent six years representing the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) as the team leader on federal appropriations issues, the federal budget and NRECA’s international program. She also has worked for business-related organizations lobbying on energy, health care and international development issues.

“I’m pleased to be able to welcome Abbie to our OBI team,” said OBI President & CEO Mark Johnson. “Her policy knowledge and strong communication skills ensure that she will be a dynamic and effective presence on issues of importance to our members.”

Laugtug will join OBI before the start of the February session to actively participate in the legislative process and will be available to talk with members at the OBI Annual Meeting and Legislative Reception February 12.

Laugtug is from Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. She looks forward to using her deep experience in environment and energy policy to be a strong advocate for our members’ interests.
