Business Coalition Again Calls on Gov. Brown for Economic Relief

Published Friday, April 10, 2020

In light of Gov. Brown’s announcement on Wednesday, April 9, that she would be extending K-12 and postsecondary school closures through the remainder of the school year, and that districts should be putting their Student Success Act spending plans on hold, OBI joined with dozens of other business associations to again ask for a delay in the implementation of the Corporate Activity Tax. The tax, which is still due April 30, would go to fund not-yet-established Student Success Act programs in 2020-21 school year.

“Given that at least a portion of the Student Success Act has apparently been put on hold and that funding grants have not yet been approved, we urge Governor Brown to similarly put the Corporate Activity Tax on hold by delaying its implementation immediately,” the coalition wrote. “This action is within her power and is vital to protecting thousands of Oregon businesses that are struggling to survive.”
